Brophy engagement
Shown here mid-sculpt, the carpet design was an approximation of the colors and patterns on the original. Only the cream base, the beige stripe and corner shape, and the darker brown stripes were actual colored clay. A wire brush was used for the initial texturing, but all the detailing, patterning, and color was done freehand with shaved chalk pastels and the tip of a beading needle - essentially pointillism in miniature. It was a tedious multi-day process under a magnifying light, but the result was worth it.
